Umrah Packing List 2027

Everything you need to pack for a comfortable Umrah — from Ihram and documents to the small items that make a big difference in the Haram.

Packing well for Umrah keeps your journey light and your mind focused on worship. Saudi Arabia is well stocked, so you can buy most things there — but a few essentials are worth bringing from home. Use the checklist below as your guide, and keep documents and valuables in your hand luggage.

Documents & money (carry-on)

Essential Documents

  • Passport (valid 6+ months)
  • Visa confirmation / Nusuk QR
  • Flight tickets & hotel vouchers
  • Vaccination certificate
  • Travel insurance details
  • Passport photos x4
  • Emergency contacts card (Arabic)

Money & Tech

  • Saudi Riyal cash + bank card
  • Phone & charger / power bank
  • UK–Saudi plug adapter (Type G works)
  • Small bag for shoes in the Haram
  • SIM / eSIM or roaming plan
  • Nusuk & prayer-time apps installed

Ihram & clothing

For Men

  • 2–3 sets of Ihram sheets
  • Ihram belt / money pouch
  • Unscented soap & toiletries
  • Comfortable sandals (ankle-exposed)
  • Light thobes for after Umrah
  • Underclothing suitable for Ihram

For Women

  • Loose, modest abayas
  • Comfortable hijabs / scarves
  • Non-slip comfortable shoes
  • Unscented toiletries
  • Prayer garment
  • Spare modest clothing

Health & comfort

  • Personal medication (in original packaging) and a basic first-aid kit.
  • Unscented moisturiser, lip balm and sunscreen — scent-free while in Ihram.
  • Refillable water bottle for Zamzam.
  • Small towel, wet wipes and hand sanitiser.
  • Comfortable foldable bag for day trips and Ziyarah.
  • A light shawl or travel blanket for air-conditioned flights and mosques.
Tip: Keep one full set of Ihram and a day’s clothing in your hand luggage in case checked bags are delayed — you may need to enter Ihram before landing.

FAQs
Common Questions
Can I buy Ihram and toiletries in Makkah?+
Yes — Ihram garments, unscented toiletries and most essentials are widely available near the Haram, often cheaply. Still, bring at least one Ihram set from home in case you need it before landing.
What plug adapter do I need for Saudi Arabia?+
Saudi Arabia primarily uses Type G sockets (the same as the UK), so a UK plug usually fits. A multi-adapter and a power bank are still handy.
How much luggage can I take?+
Most airlines allow 23–30kg checked baggage plus hand luggage, but this varies by carrier and fare. We confirm your exact allowance when we book your flights.
Should I bring Zamzam water home?+
Zamzam is available to purchase in sealed, airline-approved containers at the airport. Do not pack it in hand luggage — buy it airside or have it arranged for checked transport.
